Challenge:
BasiGo’s rapid business growth exposed a structural limitation; importing completely built buses (CBUs) restricted access to tax incentives and hindered scalability. A shift to complete knockdown (CKD) assembly was essential for unlocking regulatory and financial advantages in Kenya’s industrial ecosystem.
Solution:
We orchestrated a full-spectrum transition plan by:

Securing an assembler’s license to activate tax exemptions for local production.

Negotiating and allocating a CKD assembly partnership with a third-party assembler.

Setting up and qualifying the assembly process, culminating in the award of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) standardization mark.

Spearheading the application and award of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification thereby cutting customs delays via pre-clearance through customs green channel.

Stima Boda sought to rapidly establish a local electric motorcycle assembly operation while navigating complex East African Community (EAC) regulatory structures and localization requirements.
